New "Ultimate Spider-Man" Animated Series Coming to Disney XD For Fall 2011 April 13, 2010
Marvel Studios has anounced a new animated series based on the acclaimed Ultimate Spider-Man comic series is in the works for a Fall 2011 premiere on the Disney XD network.
The new animated series Ultimate Spider-Man has been greenlit by Marvel Animation and is slated to premiere Fall 2011 on the Disney XD network. The new Ultimate Spider-Man series is set to follow the adventures of a teenage Peter Parker as he comes to terms with his powers and interacts with other heroes. Marvel Animation has provided the following description and an early promo image for the series, as seen below.
Ultimate Spider-Man will tell a coming of age story, where hapless Peter Parker evolves from a naive teen hotshot to a true hero who comes to terms with his origins and abilities. Along the way, he will have to navigate challenging relationships with mentors and super-colleagues, and emerge with a better understanding of his parents' legacy and his own destiny. Disney XD will be the primary worldwide television platform for the all-new series which launches in Fall 2011.
Details on the creative team for the animated series have yet to be revealed or confirmed. Ultimate Spider-Man will be the first Marvel Animation-produced animated series to feature Spider-Man.
"Ultimate Spider-Man will be a unique journey exploring our favorite web-slinger as he teams up with other fan favorite Marvel Super Heroes in never before seen stories with a new life filled with great challenges, new friends, intense action and character growth," said Eric S. Rollman, the president of Marvel Animation.
When asked about the fate of the recent The Spectacular Spider-Man animated series from Sony Pictures Television, which ended its second season last year on the Disney XD network, Marvel Animation Age received no official comment from Sony Pictures Television, Disney XD / Disney Television Group or Marvel Animation.
